AT THE PEOPLE’S SHOW SHOIR REHEARSALS
Welcome to The People’s Show Choir! We’re a friendly community of singers who all share a passion and enthusiasm for singing songs from the shows. Now you’ve decided to join us, here are some useful tips to guide you
through your first few rehearsals.
Before you attend your first rehearsal, make sure to sign up (via the website) for your free trial. It’s important that we have your details so we know to expect you.
When you arrive, please sign the register and tell someone you’re new (there might not always be someone taking the register). You’ll be introduced to the choir leader who will welcome you and talk to you about what voice part to sing and where to sit. If you’re not comfortable singing that voice part, please don’t be scared to talk to your choir leader.
We start every rehearsal with a group warm-up, so to ensure you get the best out of this, it’s important to make sure that you arrive at rehearsals on time.
We pride ourselves on making every rehearsal inclusive. Whether you’ve been singing for years, or this is your first time in a choir, fear not, we will make sure that you are comfortable and happy with everything that we are doing.
You will not be asked to audition to join the choir and you do not need to be able to read sheet music! Please do not be alarmed if we hand you a music score and you have no experience – we will help you with this – we just like to make sure that everyone is reading from the same page, literally! Lyrics can be found on the members’ page so you can always print and use these if that’s easier for you.
We welcome members ages 9 and up. Ages 9-13 will need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for all rehearsals, and ages 14-18 will be able to attend without supervision after their first rehearsal, where we will ask for written consent. Please see our T&C’s for further details.
If, in the very rare event that we have to cancel a rehearsal on a ‘last-minute’ or emergency basis, we will endeavour to give you as much notice as we possibly can.
Every week you will receive an email from us, with details of anything you need to know about upcoming rehearsals, events and concerts. Should we not have any urgent information to send out, the email will act as a reminder. Please make sure you do read these emails, as they are our primary source of contact with you. Each choir also has a WhatsApp group for social purposes. Please ask to be added to this group once you become a member.
When you have signed up as a paying member, you will gain access to our Member’s Portal. Here, you will be able to use a variety of resources, designed by us to specifically aid you in your vocal journey with The People’s Show Choir. Resources include backing tracks, lyrics, individual parts/sectionals and more!
