Statement from The People’s Orchestra regarding compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which came into force on 25 May 2018.
As an organisation, we are aware of our responsibilities under GDPR.
The People’s Orchestra will handle and protect your personal data in line with GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. We are dedicated to safeguarding your personal information and maintaining a system that meets our obligations under the new regulations.
As the organisation responsible for The People’s Orchestra, The Rusty Players Orchestra network, The People’s Show Choir network and charity run projects, we keep and process information about members for normal operational purposes. The information we hold and process is used for management and administrative use only. We keep and use it to enable us to run the business and manage our relationship with you effectively, lawfully and appropriately. This includes using information to enable us to comply with any legal requirements, pursue legitimate and protect our legal position in the event of legal proceedings. If you do not provide this data, we may be unable in some circumstances to comply with our obligations and we will tell you about the implications of that decision.
Whilst pursuing the aims and activities of The People’s Orchestra groups, ensembles or events, we may sometimes need to process your data to pursue our legitimate business interests, for example, to prevent fraud, administrative purposes or reporting potential crimes. We will never process your data where these interests are overridden by your own interests.
Much of the information we hold will have been provided by you, and you will always be aware of the information you have given as you are the primary source.
The sort of information we hold may include your membership application, your name, address, telephone number and email address. We also hold any emergency contact and medical information you have supplied. The information will be used in order to comply with our health and safety and occupational health obligations. We keep a minimum information on race, sexuality or religion required for monitoring and evaluation by our funders.
Where we are processing data based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. However, this may make it impossible for us to communicate with you under such circumstances.
We will only disclose information about you to third parties if we are legally obliged to do so or where we need to comply with our contractual duties to you.
Your personal data will be stored during the time of membership at The People’s Orchestra. After leaving, your personal information will be deleted.
If we intend to process your personal data for a purpose other than that for which is as collected, we will provide you with information on that purpose and other relevant information.
Your rights under the GDPR

Our Privacy Policy
Your privacy is critical to us, and we are committed to complying with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.
All your personal data, whether it is paper-based or computer records, will be handled in accordance with GDPR, and The People’s Orchestra has procedures in place to ensure that it is secure. This policy demonstrates how we gather, utilise, impart and reveal, and use individual data.
What information do we collect?
- Information you give us as a supporter – for example, when you sign up to our mailing list, monthly newsletter, purchase tickets or make a donation. Personal information will include the information you give us such as your name, email and postal address, telephone number and a record of your donations. This information will only be collected with your consent and if you unsubscribe, your details will be removed from our system.
- Information you give us as a member of The People’s Orchestra Ensembles – personal information will include your name, email, postal address, telephone number, medical information if appropriate, details of an emergency contact/next of kin, and anonymous statistical data that we use for fundraising or grant funding reporting.
- Information you give us as a participant in our activities and projects – personal information will include your name, email, postal address, telephone number and anonymous statistical data that we use for fundraising or grant funding reporting.
- Information about any interactions with our organisation – for example, if you contact us about our work or to make a complaint. Personal information will include your name, email, postal address, telephone number and the nature of the query or complaint.
The only people who will have access to your personal data are staff members and trusted work placement volunteers who have a legitimate reason for access. Your personal data will be kept as secure as possible

Membership Agreement – terms and conditions
This covers the terms and conditions for membership of The People’s Orchestra Ensembles, which includes the following:
- Membership of The People’s Orchestra.
- Membership of The Rusty Players Orchestra.
- Membership of The People’s Show Choir.
This is an agreement between you (the member) and The People’s Orchestra, a charity registered in England and Wales (registration number 1151321).
The joining process is accessible through our websites (www.thepeoplesorchestra.com and www.thepeoplesshowchoir.com) and by completion of an application form.
We reserve the right to amend the terms and conditions at any time. We will notify you of all changes to these terms and conditions.
Membership
- When you sign up for membership of one of The People’s Orchestra Groups or Ensembles, you agree to the terms and conditions of this membership agreement and enter into a legally binding agreement with The People’s Orchestra.
- By accepting these terms, you are agreeing to pay any applicable fees. These are shown at the start of the joining process and again before confirming your payment instruction. Each membership is valid for 6 months and paid by monthly subscription. A minimum of 6 subscription payments are required before membership may be terminated.
- In making an application, members are assumed to be medically fit to undertake the vocal and physical demands of The People’s Orchestra Ensemble they join. If an individual has any doubts, please let us know prior to an application. Reasonable adjustments will be made where possible.
- Adult membership is open to anyone over 18. If you are younger than 18 years old, you must have permission from an adult with parental responsibilities.
- Aged 14 to 17, you must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at your first rehearsal who must provide written agreement of your membership and acceptance of these terms and conditions, proof of identity such as a passport or photo driving licence and, if required, proof of legal guardianship. Following this, you may attend unaccompanied, however, we have no responsibility for your welfare outside of the rehearsals.
- Aged 9 to 13, you will be asked to provide proof of age and at all rehearsals you must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who, at the first rehearsal, must provide written agreement of your membership and acceptance of these terms and conditions and proof of identity such as a passport or photo driving licence.
- By joining, you agree that you are not breaching any legal obligations or conditions imposed on you by a court of law. Children can join The People’s Orchestra Ensembles from age 9 and this should be a consideration when accepting these terms and conditions. - Rehearsals will run weekly during term time and a full rehearsal schedule will be issued to members prior to the start of the term. Occasionally a rehearsal may be cancelled due to staff illness, weather or other unforeseen circumstances. We will always endeavour to give as much notice as possible to members for any changes made to regular scheduled rehearsals.
- Members are responsible for their own property and well-being whilst attending all rehearsals and performances. The People’s Orchestra Ensembles are not responsible for damage to person or personal belongings whilst attending rehearsals and performances or before and after rehearsals and performances.
- The People’s Orchestra, The People’s Orchestra Groups and Ensembles, the Conductor, the Choir Leaders, The People’s Orchestra employees, subcontractors and volunteer are not liable for any loss, damage or theft of any of your property that you bring into any of our third-party venues.
- The People’s Orchestra reserves the right in its absolute discretion to terminate this agreement and cancel your membership with immediate effect on notice to you if it is felt to be in the best interests of The People’s Orchestra Ensembles and/or any of its members, and if you breach this membership agreement and any of the codes of conduct. In this event, you will no longer be able to access your downloads and you will not receive a refund.
- Membership may vary each year and members will be notified of any changes in advance.
- Other benefits – The People’s Orchestra Groups and Ensembles may from time to time provide additional facilities such as downloads, special rehearsals and shows. These are not part of the basic membership and are provided solely at our discretion. Those who do not have internet facilities may not be able to avail themselves of some of these additional provisions.
- You cannot transfer this agreement to anyone else.
Fees and payment methods
- You agree to pay us any applicable fees as shown in the online joining process and in the emails sent to you by The People’s Orchestra Ensembles. Where a person is a member of both the orchestra and choir, they only require membership of an orchestra.
- It is the responsibility of a member to ensure their payment method is set up correctly and their fees are being paid/collected successfully. While we may inform you of any issues or errors that can occur from time to time, any overdue amounts will be payable in full.
- Payment via website: These payments must be set up as soon as a member completes the membership agreement and will continue annually/monthly throughout the year.
- Payment can be made by Standing Order – please contact us for our bank details.
- Cheques are accepted and must be made payable to The People’s Orchestra and with the member’s name and membership number on the reverse, posted to West Bromwich Town Hall, Lodge Road, B70 8AY.
- Membership payments contribute to the administrative running costs of The People’s Orchestra – office/room hire, conductor and choir leader fees, composition/music, staff costs, etc. We are registered for Gift Aid and will collect this annually where a member has agreed that we can do so. https://justgiving-charity-support.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204663747-Understanding-Gift-Aid
- Membership bursaries may be available to students and those in difficult financial circumstances. Please contact hello@thepeoplesorchestra.com to discuss this further.
- We reserve the right to increase or decrease the price of membership. We will give you at least one full months’ notice of any price change and will make it clear when the price change will take effect and how much your membership will cost after the increase. During this notice period, you reserve the right to terminate your membership in accordance with these terms and conditions. If you choose not to terminate your membership before the date, the increase becomes effective, and the price of your membership will be change in accordance with our notice.
Suspension of membership
- After 4 months membership you may interrupt your membership for any period for exceptional reasons (to be agreed by Sarah Marshall, CEO), by emailing hello@thepeoplesorchestra.com. You may suspend your membership for no more than six months, any longer may result in your membership being cancelled.
Ending your membership
- You have the right to cancel this agreement within 14 days from the start of the agreement without giving any reason, but you must let us know you wish to do so within the 14-day cancellation period. Please notify us by email at hello@thepeoplesorchestra.com. The cancellation period will expire after 14 days from the day you accept the terms. In case of dispute, you must show that you cancelled the agreement in accordance with the cancellation terms.
- After the 14-day cancellation period, you may terminate your membership after by emailing email us at hello@thepeoplesorchestra.com. Your membership will end with immediate effect and fees due will be calculated to the date of cancellation. Any payments made for future sessions will be refunded on request, all such requests must be made within 6 months of terminating your membership. Any amounts still outstanding must be paid in full before the membership is terminated and in no less than 30 days. It is your responsibility to cancel any arrangements, for example, standing order/bill payments directly with your bank.
- You are responsible for notifying us if you wish to cancel your membership.
- After 14 days cancellation period, your initial membership term is 6 months. No refund will be agreed during this period. After 6 months you can cancel your automatic renewal payments anytime by contacting The People’s Orchestra by email at hello@thepeoplesorchestra.com and giving 30 days notice in advance.
- It is the responsibility of a member to cancel their payment method with their bank on cancellation of membership.
- The People’s Orchestra reserves the right in its absolute discretion to terminate this agreement if it is felt to be in the best interests of the Orchestra or Choir and/or any of its members for it to do so.
Communication and your communication preferences
- By becoming a member, you consent to receiving communications relating to your membership, events, concerts, opportunities and information. We may communicate this information to you by email, SMS or by social media groups such as the Facebook Members Group. A copy of our GDPR statement and Privacy Policy is included on this web page.
- You must tell us about any changes to your personal details including contact information.
- You may opt out of email and SMS communications that we may send but if you do, we cannot be held responsible for any loss incurred by you not receiving relevant communications.
Use of Resources
- The harmonies, concepts and resources used in The People’s Orchestra Groups and Ensembles are owned by The People’s Orchestra. In taking part in any rehearsal, performance, workshop or event it is agreed that any use of resources, techniques and ideas will not be used, amended, copied or replicated at any other event, or to any group or in any venue. If found to be used, legal action will ensue against the individual.
- You must use downloads in the proper manner, and you must consult your conductor or choir leader if you are unsure.
- Individual music pads must be brought to every rehearsal and concert; spares will not be provided, and replacements will be given upon request and at the member’s own expense. If any original sheet music is lost, the member who last had it will be charged the full price of replacing the music.
- During performances, the correct concert t-shirt for your ensemble is mandatory and must be purchased at the member’s expense. Other official merchandise MUST be purchased to the member’s expense.
Code of Conduct
- You agree that your actions at rehearsals, events, performances, social gatherings or any other occasions with The People’s Orchestra Groups and Ensembles, will not bring either the Orchestras or Choirs into disrepute. Drinking alcohol excessively, gambling, fighting, swearing, and other similar unprofessional activities are strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated. Any infringement of these rules will earn the perpetrator one warning, and if it continues, they will be asked to leave, there is no appeal to this decision.
- It is important for all members of the ensembles, the public, our staff and volunteers to be treated with respect. Abusive, aggressive or violent behaviour towards staff, volunteers, singers and players will not be tolerated under any circumstances. This includes behaviour deemed to be bullying, either physical or emotional, as well as sexual harassment or behaviour that could be construed as such, for example, using inappropriate language, keeping or posting inappropriate materials online or in their performance space, or accessing inappropriate materials during performances or rehearsals.
- You will undertake to meet any legal conditions or obligations placed on you by any court of law including, should the need arise, removing yourself from any rehearsal as well as, but not limited to, any event, performance or social occasion. Where The People’s Orchestra identifies that you have breached a legal obligation it reserves the right to cancel your membership and no refunds will be given in these circumstances.
COVID-19 safety
- At the People’s Orchestra, we are very excited to return to rehearsals and play music together once again. However, the health and the safety of everyone involved must be the top priority. Please be reassured that we have completed a COVID-19 risk assessment and put in place procedures to ensure the risk of transmitting coronavirus is as minimal as possible.
- With rehearsals starting once more in September 2021, we will continue to follow the latest Government advice. If current guidance changes and restrictions are introduced once more, social distancing may have an impact on the number of members being able to attend rehearsals.
- Any member with symptoms of COVID-19 or who has been asked to self-isolate should not attend a rehearsal or concert.
- To keep you safe at rehearsals, we will continue to ask you to sign a register (for track and trace purposes), use the hand sanitiser provided, and go straight to your allocated seat. It is important that attendees do not move around the room unnecessarily and we request that you wear a face mask when you are not playing.
- Attendees will be able to use the toilet facilities if they need to, one at a time.
- To reduce the need for shared equipment, all members must bring their own music stand (orchestras) and pencil, and any drinks or refreshments needed, as we are unable to provide these.
- Members must only use their own music and ensure they bring it with them on each occasion. We will not be able to provide spares or share music with others.
- All chairs will be cleaned and laid out to fit social distancing rules by TPO staff. Each member will be allocated a specific seat.
Carers
- We welcome everyone and understand that rehearsals may be more challenging for some people and wherever possible reasonable adjustments will be made to allow an individual’s membership to continue.
- If you are attending The People’s Orchestra Ensembles with a carer, they are welcome to join in with the weekly rehearsals. However, they will not be granted access to resources or membership benefits and will not be able to actively participate in performances or events.
- If you attend with a carer, they are entirely responsible for your care and well-being. Depending on your needs and the level of support you require, your carer must attend any performances or events with you.
- We expect everyone to get the same enjoyment from the sessions and in consideration of this, we ask that your carer/s comply with the following:
- To sit with you during the rehearsal, performance or event.
- To support you and ensure their attention is on you and not distracted by anything else, for example, by mobile devices, etc.
- To ensure you have a care plan and behaviour plan in place that is suited to your needs and to act on these immediately should the need arise.
- To ensure they always support the conductor or choir leader to maximise your participation and enjoyment and that of others.
- Where a carer fails to meet these requirements resulting in a negative effect on you, other members or the orchestra/show choir, you agree that we may speak directly to your carer, family or support to `resolve the issues. Where the issues cannot be resolved and only if there is no alternative solution, we reserve the right to cancel your membership.
Photographic consent
- By joining, it is agreed that photographic, motion picture, electronic (video) images and sound and video recordings may be taken of all the members and used for advertising and marketing purposes in relation to The People’s Orchestra Ensembles.
- You consent to incidental inclusion in marketing photographs and videos that we may take from time to time.
Performances and shows – filming policy
- Members and their families/friends will be permitted to film performances providing the venue allows such filming and there is no additional charge to by the venue to enable this facility. (If the latter is the case, your conductor/choir leader will advise you before the show date so that you can advise your friends and family that no filming is permitted whatsoever.)
- Where filming is permissible, the following conditions must be met and members will need to ensure that their families/friends are aware of these conditions of filming prior to the performance:
- The filming is for personal use only and cannot be for any purpose for which ANY form of charge is made either immediately following the show or at any point in the future.
- If the film is to be posted on social media then it should not contain any content that causes distress, discomfort or any other issues for other members. In such circumstances, we will request the footage to be removed.
- Whilst filming, consideration must always be given to the enjoyment of others in the audience. There should not be continual filming of the whole show and the camera used should be sufficiently small to not cause any nuisance to others, including blocking their view of any performance. No additional camera equipment is to be used (e.g. tripods or zoom lenses).
- Immediate compliance is required should anyone be asked to stop filming by a People’s Orchestra ensemble or venue official.
- No permission will be granted to film or photograph the show for any professional or commercial purposes, except by prior arrangement and payment of a fee.

Recordings
The People’s Orchestra Ensembles may record or video performances, rehearsals or interviews with its members, participants or audiences for broadcast or streaming on its social media platforms, website or YouTube channels. Broadcasts may later be released for download and/or as a CD or DVD, including products for commercial gain for the organisation. There is no monitory remuneration for members.

Purchase policy
These terms and conditions relate to concert and event ticket bookings and merchandise sold on behalf of The People’s Orchestra Ensembles. Please note, that concert and event bookings may be subject to the respective terms and conditions of the venue concerned.
Tickets and merchandise are sold by The People’s Orchestra, a charity registered in England and Wales – Charity Number 1151321 with its registered address at West Bromwich Town Hall, Lodge Road, West Bromwich, B70 9DY.
Concert and event ticket bookings
- Information about concerts and events is published on The People’s Orchestra website at thepeoplesorchestra.com.
- Performance details may be subject to change and we recommend that you check our website and social media platforms for up-to-date information before you travel.
- The People’s Orchestra reserves the right to alter concert programmes and artists without notice.
- Tickets purchased from The People’s Orchestra cannot be resold for commercial gain. We may cancel tickets and refuse entry if we have reason to believe this condition has not been respected.
- All tickets sold are subject to the General Data Protection Regulations. If you have given your consent, your contact details will be held on our box office database when you have booked tickets through The People’s Orchestra website. Future contact may be made to inform you about future concerts and activities associated with The People’s Orchestra Ensembles. You can change your mind at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in the footer of any email you receive from us or by contacting us at hello@thepeoplesorchestra.com.
- Audience members at concerts and events may be filmed, photographed or recorded for broadcast or security reasons.
- We reserve the right to refuse admission or remove audience members from the venue without a refund at our discretion and in circumstances where we feel your behaviour may affect other people’s enjoyment or safety. On occasion it may be necessary to conduct security searches to ensure the safety of the audience.
Ticket information
- Tickets may be purchased online from thepeoplesorchestra or for selected events in person from the venue or a representative from The People’s Orchestra.
- All tickets are subject to availability.
- All payments are to be made in Great British Pounds (GBP £).
- Through our website, you can book online 24 hours a day and either have your tickets emailed or posted to you or you can collect your tickets in person from West Bromwich Town Hall, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Tickets may also be purchased in person from West Bromwich Town Hall.
- Bookings can also be made by post, with a cheque or postal order made payable to The People’s Orchestra.
- Tickets purchased online can be issued either as electronic e-tickets that are emailed or as printed tickets that are posted to the purchaser.
- Postage and packing charges will apply to the dispatch of printed tickets. Your tickets will be posted within 72 hours of your booking (Monday to Friday). If your tickets have not arrived within five days of the booking, please contact hello@thepeoplesorchestra.com.
- E-tickets and will be emailed to the purchaser. Confirmation will take the form of an email to the customer, and this will include details of the purchase, a unique purchase reference number and an e-ticket.
- If you have tried to purchase a ticket from thepeoplesorchestra.com but do not receive any confirmation after submitting payment, please contact us by email at hello@thepeoplesorchestra.com and we can confirm if the order has been completed successfully or not. It is the customer’s responsibility to contact us if they believe there have been any problems during the purchase process. The People’s Orchestra will not be responsible for losses (monetary or otherwise) if a customer assumes that an order was not placed because they failed to receive confirmation.
- Any ticket-holder unable to present confirmation of purchase in the form of a printout of the e-mail and valid identification indicating they are the individual named on the confirmation may not be admitted to the event in question and will not receive a refund.
Ticket refunds
- Unless indicated, tickets are non-refundable or exchangeable. Before purchasing, please check your event and ticket selection. Once purchased, tickets cannot be refunded or exchanged unless the event is cancelled, rescheduled or if details of the event are significantly changed after the booking is made (significant changes being a change of headline act, venue or show time). In 2021, exceptions have been made to some events and tickets may be refundable if you are not able to attend due to Covid-19 and give 24 hours’ notice and confirmation of a positive PCR test and a NHS reference number confirming the result.
- Refunds will only be given if an event or performance is cancelled or rescheduled. If you have had your tickets posted to you, then costs for ticket postage may not be refunded. Refunds are limited to the value of the ticket booking.
- If an event is cancelled, we will do our best to contact customers by email (using the details provided at the time of the booking) advising them of the cancellation and initiating the refund process. Customers can also notify us directly if they discover that an event has been cancelled by emailing hello@thepeoplesorchestra.com.
- If an event is postponed and changed to a new venue or date or there is a significant change to the event, then tickets already purchased will remain valid should the customer wish to attend the revised event. Refunds are also available for those who do not. Customers must contact us no longer than the Monday following notification of the event’s revised date.
- Lost or stolen tickets may be refunded at our discretion.
- Latecomers to concerts or events are not eligible for a refund.
- For outside events, refunds will only be offered in the event of weather conditions forcing the cancellation of the entire event.
- It is the responsibility of the ticket purchaser to comply with any age restrictions which apply to the event or the venue where the event is being held.
- The People’s Orchestra will under no circumstances be responsible for any expenditure resulting from the cancellation of any event associated with The People’s Orchestra Ensembles.
- Whilst we try to ensure that our website is fully operational at all times, on those occasions when there are interruptions to the service due to essential maintenance, system upgrades, internet service interruptions or any other factors beyond our control, The People’s Orchestra will not be liable for any indirect, consequential, exemplary, incidental, special or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenues or business opportunities.
Merchandise
- All merchandise orders are subject to acceptance and product availability.
- All prices on our website are inclusive of VAT but exclusive of packing and delivery charges, which will be payable as indicated at the time of placing your order. Before your order is confirmed, you will be told the total price of all the goods you are purchasing, including postage and delivery charges.
- Please allow 28 days for delivery. If we do not deliver within 28 days, we will notify you by email with the new expected delivery date. If you do not agree with this, you may cancel your order and we will forward a refund to the value of the goods you have not received.
- You have the right to cancel the order and receive a refund. Refunds for merchandise orders will also apply if the goods arrive in a damaged or faulty condition, if they do not comply with the description of the goods you ordered, or if they do not arrive.
- The People’s Orchestra will not be liable for any losses, costs, damages, charges, or expenses caused by delay or failure of delivery of the goods.
Donations and Gift Aid
- As a registered charity, The People’s Orchestra can claim Gift Aid on donations, which means that 25p can be claimed by the organisation for every £1 donated by UK tax payers. If you would like to make a donation, please also complete the Gift Aid declaration on our donations forms. Thank you.
Participation in the Sing Together Workshops
Terms and conditions
By signing up for the Sing Together Workshops, you are agreeing to be bound by the following terms and conditions.
General
These terms and conditions apply to all participants of the Sing Together Workshops.
- By taking part in our Sing Together Workshops, you consent to receiving communications relating to the workshops. We may communicate this information to you by email and ask you for feedback about the workshops.
- You will not publish or use the resources supplied to you by The People’s Orchestra outside of the workshops taking place in your residential care home without obtaining permission from The People’s Orchestra.
- The copyright of all recordings and singing resources remains the property of The People’s Orchestra.
- The People’s Orchestra will not be liable for any injuries sustained whilst participating in these workshops.
Participation in the Commonwealth Community Music Initiative
Terms and conditions
By signing up for the Commonwealth Community Music Initiative (CCMI) projects, you are agreeing to be bound by the CCMI terms and conditions.
General
These terms and conditions apply to all participants of the CCMI projects.
- Except where otherwise expressly stated, we regret we cannot accept liability or pay any compensation where the performance or prompt performance of our contractual obligations is prevented or affected by unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances.
- In these booking conditions, unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances means a situation which is beyond our control, the consequences of which could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken. Such situations are likely to include (whether actual or threatened) war, riot, civil strife, terrorist activity, industrial dispute, natural or nuclear disaster, adverse weather conditions, fire, flood, epidemics and closure or restriction of transport hubs or facilities.
- Upon cancellation of the CCMI projects, all materials relating to participant contributions will be returned to those participants respectively.
- All information submitted to The People’s Orchestra will be held securely under standard GDPR guidelines and their contributions will be credited.
- Participants are responsible for looking at The People’s Orchestra’s policies detailed on their website, and The People’s Orchestra accepts no liability for non-referral to the policies provided.
- Participants must adhere to the Anti-Bullying Statement as provided on The People’s Orchestra’s website.
- The People’s Orchestra reserves the right to remove participants from the events detailed if they are found to be not following these guidelines.
- The People’s Orchestra is not affiliated with the views and beliefs of those participating in these events.
- The People’s Orchestra reserves the right to disqualify any participants or withhold payment awards for any irregularities. The People’s Orchestra’s decisions will be final and there is no right to appeal.
- The People’s Orchestra reserves the right to terminate any events, competitions and projects without notice and will not be liable for any costs incurred by participants as a result.
- All recordings, new works, arts works and similar, submitted to, or created by The People’s Orchestra as part of any CCMI project, may be shared with all members of the CCMI Project and other interested parties through mutual agreement. A mutual agreement must be in place between The People’s Orchestra and the participant before the participant may share recordings, new works, arts works and similar created and submitted to the CCMI project and The People’s Orchestra.
- The People’s Orchestra reserves the right to update terms and conditions without prior notice.
- All rights reserved.
Opportunity
- There is no limit to the number of groups who can be involved in this project. However, there will be a set of criteria emailed to those taking part and we reserve the right not to include a submission should it fail to meet the criteria.

- There are no upper or lower age limits, but if you are under 18 years of age, you must have permission from your parent/guardian when you register to take part.

Spirit
- There is a cash prize of £150 for winning entries, which will be awarded upon receipt of all recordings and scores as requested by The People’s Orchestra.
- There is a maximum of one winning entry per commonwealth territory.
- By taking part, you consent to us using your composition, video submission, photo and biography for promotional purposes linked to this project.
- There are no upper or lower age limits, but if you are under 18 years of age, you must have permission from your parent/guardian when you register to take part.
- By taking part, you consent to The People’s Orchestra having full access and rights to use and publish your composition as they see fit.
- If The People’s Orchestra is made aware of or finds any participants have plagiarised any part of their entry, The People’s Orchestra will not assume liability. Participants will be removed/disqualified from entry on the grounds of plagiarism.
- The Judges’ decisions will be final.
Curiosity
- If you are interested in coming to Birmingham to perform in this project we need to know in advance, and this will be arranged on a case-by-case basis.
- By taking part, you consent to The People’s Orchestra having full access and rights to use and publish your video and audio recordings linked to this project as they see fit.
- By taking part, you consent to us using your video and audio submission, photo and biography for promotional purposes linked to this project.
- Participants must follow government travel guidance on quarantining and testing for COVID-19.
- The People’s Orchestra is not liable for costs of testing or accommodation whilst isolating.
- The People’s Orchestra has guidelines for COVID safety which we abide by to the best of our ability. If participants contract COVID-19, The People’s Orchestra is not liable.
- If participants are not abiding by policies used by The People’s Orchestra, The People’s Orchestra is not liable.
- The People’s Orchestra is not liable for any costs of travel or accommodation incurred in taking part in the Curiosity CCMI Project.
- The People’s Orchestra is not liable for safety whilst travelling to take part in the Curiosity CCMI Project.
- The People’s Orchestra is not liable for loss of travel documents, loss of baggage and/or instruments.
- The People’s Orchestra is not liable for instrument damage sustained in travel or at/taking part in the Curiosity CCMI Project.
- The People’s Orchestra reserves the right to remove people from the event if found to not be following these guidelines.
- Participants are responsible for reading and following government guidelines relating to COVID-19 and TPO will not be responsible for any breaches of these guidelines by participants.
- TPO will not be liable for any injuries sustained whilst participating in the projects and events.
- In order to take part in the CCMI project, payment must be received and processed before confirmation of acceptance into the project. No resources or confirmation will be sent until payment is received in full. All payments must be received 10 days before of the start of the CCMI Curiosity project.
Vision
- There is no limit to the number of submissions involved in this project. However, we reserve the right not to include a submission in the final video works.
- By taking part, you consent to us using your art, music, video and audio submission, photo and biography for promotional purposes linked to this project.
