Christmas movie concert at prestigious London venue from Home Alone to The Snowman

A concert of favourite Christmas film and TV anthems is bringing festive cheer to London this year at Britain’s oldest conservatoire. The Something Magical Radio Times Edition spectacular takes place at The Duke’s Hall within The Royal Academy of Music.

The People’s Orchestra and The People’s Show Choirs are coming together to perform well-known classic theme tunes. Film lovers will be treated to everything from Home Alone to The Sound of Music during the two-hour show.

While iconic TV favourites will include music from Christmas regulars Wallace and Gromit and Walking In The Air from The Snowman.

It is the first time the award-winning music charity has done a festive concert in the capital and they are looking forward to performing at such an esteemed music location. The 319-seat hall is the Royal Academy of Music’s flagship concert venue.

The Something Magical concert is at the Marylebone Road venue on Sunday December 15 at 4:30pm. Tickets cost £20.50 for adults or £13.70 for those aged 60+, students and children aged 17 and under.

A similar Christmas concert at Birmingham Town Hall has already sold out.

The People’s Orchestra and People’s Show Choirs are made up of people who have reconnected with their passion for music and singing.

Vernon Thornton, who sings with The People’s Show Choir, said: “Our 2023 Christmas Concert at Birmingham Town Hall was epic and I’m looking forward to this year’s.

“I enjoy all of our performances because you know that you have done something good for people at the end of the day.”
