Being outside, not looking at a screen, taking in nature, all while improving your cardiovascular health, improving sleep and reducing stress are just some of the positives linked to walking. It has also been shown that singing can have many of those same positive effects on mental health, so why not try combining singing and walking by joining a walking choir!
If you are looking for a way of getting more physical activity into your life and want to combine it with singing then look no further. Your choir leader will provide you with a fun walk in the open air while you learn to sing a variety of songs. While you focus on the singing, you will forget the fact that you are exercising and your mind and body will really feel the benefit.
Yes, you might feel a bit silly, yes people might look at you in a strange way but fear not, your walking choir leader will be there to absorb as much of that awkwardness as possible so people will be looking at them and not you. Think of it as a mobile silent disco if you like. Bluetooth headphones will provided so you can hear what your choir leader is saying and singing, and from there it’s all about singing your heart out. No previous singing experience is required and you will be welcomed and encouraged every step of the way. The joy, fun and friendship that will come from singing and walking in a group will be one of the biggest take aways from joining The People’s Walking Choir.
