‘Happiest’ Show Choir launching in Coventry with appeal for new members
The People’s Show Choir, whose members describe it as “the happiest” and “the most fun” choir around, is returning to Coventry in 2026 – and it’s inviting new members to be part of its exciting re-launch, even if they think they can’t sing.
The Coventry choir will be re-launching in 2026, with full details, venue and launch date to be announced soon.
Open to adults of all backgrounds and abilities, The People’s Show Choir is part of The People’s Orchestra family and welcomes everyone, whether they’ve sung in a choir before or have only ever sung along in the car.
The re-launch marks an exciting opportunity for people across Coventry to rediscover the joy of singing in a friendly, welcoming community. Whether you’re returning to the choir or thinking about joining for the very first time, everyone is encouraged to come along and give it a try.
As much about friendship and improving wellbeing as it is about singing, The People’s Show Choir has grown into a thriving network of community choirs stretching from Inverness to Birmingham, Wimbledon, Cheltenham and beyond.
The Coventry choir is looking for people who want to try something new, meet like-minded people, improve their confidence or simply enjoy singing in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Julie Lawrence from The People’s Show Choir South Birmingham recently travelled to Poland on tour alongside members from choirs across the UK.
Julie said: “We’ve all laughed and spent evenings together joking and having fun. We are the most fun and happiest choir going. We might all be as mad as hatters, but we have a good time.”
Jason Clarke from The People’s Show Choir Sutton Coldfield said: “If you’re hesitant because you feel like you can’t sing, it doesn’t matter. If you enjoy singing and just want to come out and have an evening joining lots of other people who enjoy singing, just do it.
“I was very hesitant and felt like I couldn’t sing but was made to feel really welcome.
“We’re a big family, we look after each other, we support each other and we have fun. That’s the biggest thing about this – we have fun and enjoy it. If you’re thinking of joining, do it 100%.”
Members rehearse together every week and perform everything from musical theatre favourites such as Mary Poppins to pop classics including Madonna’s Like A Prayer. For some, it’s the perfect way to unwind after work, while for others it’s an opportunity to make new friends, boost their wellbeing and become part of a supportive community.
No auditions are required, there’s no need to read music and complete beginners are always welcome.
