Joe Allen

Joe Allen is a professional musical director, composer, and musician.

His musical journey began with singing in choirs and theatre groups. At the same time, he started studying Clarinet and Saxophone, which led him to Leeds Conservatoire, where he earned a BA (Hons) in Jazz Saxophone. Joe then pursued an MA in Musical Direction, which brought him back to his love of theatre, conducting, and singing.

Today, Joe has a portfolio career centred around his passion for making music accessible to everyone. His work includes serving as a musical director in both professional and community theatre, teaching instruments and voice, working as a performance and nervous system coach, leading a staff choir at the University of Leeds, and leading The People’s Show Choir York. He also freelances as a composer, conductor, jazz musician, and workshop leader.
