Joanna Leighton

Jo is a musician living and working in Newport, Gwent. After singing and playing violin in school, she left with grade 8 violin, viola and singing. She went on to complete a degree in music from Royal Holloway University of London, and spent a year living in London and working the London music scene before relocating to Durham and starting her first choir! Since then she's gone from strength to strength, relocating again to Bristol to take a role as a church musical director for 6 years, setting up a successful music teaching business, and taking the church choir to sing at Bristol Cathedral on many occasions. After having her three children, she moved and settled in Newport. She currently sings with the BBC national chorus of Wales. Jo enjoys seeing people fall in love with singing and the camaraderie that being a member of a choir brings. She looks forward to welcoming you to the Newport choir!
