Malvern Set To Launch Brand-New Choir in September 2024!
‘Happiest’ Show Choir launching in Malvern with appeal for new members
The People’s Show Choir that members rave about for being “the happiest” is launching in Malvern and on the hunt for new members – even if they can’t sing.
Malvern’s latest choir launches in the week of September 9 in the Worcestershire town. Aimed at all ages and backgrounds, the Show Choirs are part of The People’s Orchestra family.
As much about socialising and using music to boost mental health, the People’s Show Choir already has groups from Inverness to Birmingham, Wimbledon and Cheltenham.
They are reaching out to those who want to try something new or already have a passion for singing. A mini concert in Malvern at Priory Park on August 10 gave a taster of what the Show Choir is all about.
Julie Lawrence from South Birmingham Show Choir recently went on a tour to Poland with a mix of people from groups nationwide.
Julie said: “We’ve all laughed and spent evenings together joking and having fun. We are the most fun and happiest choir going. We might all be as mad as hatters, but we have a good time.”
Jason Clarke from the Sutton Coldfield Show Choir said: “If you’re hesitant because you feel like you can’t sing, it doesn’t matter. If you enjoy singing and just want to come out and have an evening joining of lots of other people who enjoy singing, just do it.
“I was very hesitant and felt like I couldn’t sing but was made to feel really welcome.
“We’re a big family, we look after each other, we support each other and we have fun. That’s the biggest thing about this we have fun and enjoy it. If you’re thinking of joining, do it 100%.”
Choir members practise together every week and hold concerts, performing songs from Mary Poppins musical to Madonna’s Like A Prayer. Some people relish the chance to de-stress through singing while for others it’s a chance to get out the house and chat with friendly faces.
