WHAT TO EXPECT
We’re a friendly, welcoming bunch with around 20 singers. Rehearsals include a relaxed tea break halfway through – feel free to bring your own mug! We mainly use printed music (don’t worry – we’ll help you find your way through it, and most of our members end up preferring it even if they’ve joined with no music experience). We also have lyric sheets if you prefer, and having a pencil to hand can be really useful. Our choir leader is a professional vocal coach, so alongside learning and singing great music, you’ll also pick up tips and tricks for using your voice – even if you’ve never sung before, we’ll help you feel confident. Our rehearsals are full of laughter, music, and support – a chance to reconnect, reset, and enjoy a midweek boost in a friendly group.

Whether you’re a first-time singer or returning to music after years away, you’ll be supported every step of the way. Run by the award‑winning charity The People’s Orchestra, we offer two free taster sessions so you can come along, join the fun, and see how quickly you’ll feel at home.

I joined the choir as a new activity to elevate, grief. The group is friendly. Our choir leader Joe is so lovely and upbeat, and Douggie, our accompanist, is amazing on keyboard. The music and singing is really uplifting. It’s a fun evening when one can forget oneself.
