Yes. If you have strong musical foundations and leadership potential, the Choir Leader Training route may be the right next step.
You will benefit from a wider support structure around venues, promotion, systems, communications and operations, while still having the freedom to build local relationships and shape your choir’s identity.
You will receive practical support around rehearsal leadership, teaching by ear, working with mixed-ability adults and growing in confidence as a choir leader.
Formal qualifications can be helpful, but they are not essential. We are looking for musical competence, communication skills, warmth and the ability to lead people clearly and encouragingly.
Most leaders run one weekly 2-hour rehearsal during term time, along with preparation and a small number of concerts across the year. Some choose to grow into leading more than one choir over time.
