It’s our first week back after the half term break and the perfect point in the term to fling our doors open and welcome all you lovely folk in The People’s Show Choir York! This is the perfect first step to dip your toes into the beautiful, restorative pool that is singing! Join us for an evening rehearsal at 7:30pm on Wednesday 26th February 2025 at York R.I. RUFC, specifically designed to give you a taste of what it’s like to be part of this sociable and fun community choir.
Joe, our choir leader, will start the session with our choir warm-up routine: some vocal exercises, a few silly sounds, and a couple of fun warm-up songs. Before we go further into the session, enjoy a short performance by the existing choir members of one of the songs we’ve been working on this term. It’s a great chance to see the music we’ve been looking at and to see how easy it is for a group of folks from all walks of life to come together to sing something fun and beautiful.
We’re going to be learning one of our new pieces during the session – that means not even the current choir members have rehearsed it yet! We’ll be going from scratch and working on a section of it as we do in our normal weekly rehearsal. The idea of learning a song scare you? No worries. Joe has plenty of experience teaching folks new music in an easy & accessible way. Our friendly choir members are also there, on hand to help you out, whether its finding your place or being unsure which line to sing. In the words of High School Musical – “We’re all in this together”! At the end of the evening, give it a go singing through it all together, accompanied by our brilliant pianist, Douggie.
We’re looking forward to seeing you at the rehearsal session to give it a go!
This event is presented by The People’s Orchestra Charity Staff, and will be led by Joe Allen.
