Community Grants
Our Community Grants are funded by a small pot of money created by The People’s Orchestra music groups to give quick, practical help to local people who need a hand.
Powered by the TPO Community Lottery and Our Members
What the fund does
Offers small grants of around £50–£500 to people in need in the areas around our music group locations, to help with real‑life needs and challenges.
Is designed for things like keeping bills or essentials covered, helping someone through a crisis, or enabling them to take part in community life.
Where the money comes from
The fund is powered by ticket sales from the TPO Community Lottery, plus extra fundraising by our singers and instrumentalists.
Each time a group’s community fund is “live”, members can boost the pot by selling lottery tickets and running simple fundraising activities.
Who it helps
Local individuals suggested by our members. These could be friends, neighbours, carers, community volunteers, or anyone nearby who could use a bit of support.
Support can help with things like emergency costs, mobility aids, transport to medical or support appointments, or fees and travel so someone can join a musical or community activity.
How it works
TPO members nominate someone quietly and kindly, sharing a short explanation of why a grant would make a difference and how much is needed.
A small independent panel reviews nominations regularly, looking for clear need, positive impact and fairness across communities, then releases grants as cash, vouchers or essential items, usually within a few weeks.
Why visitors matter
Every lottery ticket bought, donation made, or story shared by visitors helps grow the community fund and turn members’ ideas into real change for local people.
By supporting The People’s Orchestra, visitors are helping orchestras, choirs and bands become a visible force for good in their neighbourhoods, one small grant at a time.
