Our Charity – What We Do

There is no rest for the TPO elves following on from our latest events – The People’s Orchestra Charity is full steam ahead with the next round of concerts for all of our ensembles. With the network growing across all the ensembles, it is getting rather busy for our one small office!

TPO is based in West Bromwich Town Hall, in Sandwell just off the High Street. In the far corner of the first floor, you will find a very small office of 10 dedicated individuals working through thousands of questions and kerfuffles to get musician members across the UK up onto a stage.

All of our ensembles fall under The People’s Orchestra Charity umbrella. For those unsure, playing or singing in our ensembles is directly helping our charitable efforts and in turn, our local communities. By having our orchestras, bands and choirs thriving, we are able to help members of our local community with employability support, benefits advice and musical performance wellbeing. In joining our ensembles, you help us to continue helping those who are looking to get into further education, work experience or employment.

TPO also offers placements to those looking to get some hands on experience within the music industry and other business areas. We usually look to offer full year placements to University students local and distant, though are completely open to short term work experience roles in different disciplines. Our placements are designed in conjunction with our applicants, to make sure they get the experience they are looking for – a stepping stone to the next opportunity.

If you or someone you know would like to get some hands on events management experience, or perhaps would like to step into the world film music as TPO knows it – please get in touch with us via [email protected], we would love to hear from you.

Through our ensembles and music making, we are able to open our resources to our singers and instrumentalists alike, which is a service we are proud to provide. Our resources currently cover benefits advice, employability and interview support, as well as wellbeing and performance anxiety through our specialist professionals.

Now we are back up and running at full steam, in our usual office space (with phones again, finally!), and are looking towards the future and sharing even more in the important behind the scenes work we are doing. With new friends joining our merry TPO crew soon, we will be able to stretch even further into our communities, and help those who need us.
