The People’s Orchestra is proud to offer the role of Business Administrator volunteer placement. As Business Admin, volunteers are responsible for the smooth running of the charity’s many events spanning across the year, such as Gala music concerts, fundraising campaigns and corporate events, alongside our management team.
Aiming to test the norm, The People’s Orchestra presents an exciting challenges, with its range of orchestras and choirs across the Midlands. The role includes aiding the organisation of concerts and training sessions created by the charity, supporting our music librarian with document preparation as required and aiding charity management with daily administration tasks. General administration also includes updating information into the CRM Database (Salesforce) and produce reports for managers, keep records of business activity engage in detailed research, whilst developing skills for communication with members of the public engaging with the charity.
As a member of our newly emerging marketing team, a Marketing Officer volunteer is essential to the promotion of The People’s Orchestra’s concerts. The People’s Orchestra runs orchestras and choirs across the midlands, playing primarily film, game and show music, which allows us to have a creative approach to marketing our events. Our placements span across an academic year, offering a great opportunity to get stuck in with multiple upcoming challenging projects.
A Marketing Officer placement includes duties such as supporting our communications team throughout the concert programme season, working with agencies, media partners and supporters to promote the work of the charity to the public and taking the lead on social media strategy, working to develop campaigns that drive traffic and increase revenue. Volunteers also coordinate advertising with our in house and contracted partners, whilst working with design colleagues to implement new approaches for our community projects.
There are also opportunities for frequently enhancing office administration skills throughout research, development and interacting with members of the public engaging with our marketing efforts.
Front of House Duties at Concerts and Events:
With an expansive range of concerts and events throughout the concert season, The People’s Orchestra also operates a volunteer placement in aid of Front of House duties. In having such a vast array of unusual concerts, volunteers always have fun on our concert days!
Front of House duties include checking tickets, operating the Box Office for both in house events and external clients, aiding with refreshments, directions and showing the public around our venue, as well as management of performers throughout events and all VIP rooms available.
The People’s Orchestra incorporates vibrant contrasting arts set to its musical backdrop, meaning volunteer graphic designers are essential for TPO. With a vast array of film themed concerts for both choirs and orchestras, our volunteers will never be short of new exciting projects to design and brand in their own unique styles.
Tasks will include regular creation of graphic art and illustration for the upcoming season of concerts and events for both The People’s Orchestra and The People’s Show Choir, as well as designing
branding and marketing materials for new external projects being released. Volunteers will also work closely with our film and videography volunteers to produce material for video production for online content, social media and orchestral live streams.
Film and Videography:
The People’s Orchestra also offers a Film and Videography volunteer placement, spanning across the academic year. Given the recent transfer to online content the orchestra has undertaken, video production has become crucial to reaching new audiences through our regular live stream concerts. Placement volunteers will be working closely alongside our emerging marketing team and graphic design team to produce collaborative content.
The placement will include the recording and editing of rehearsals and concerts into video and film materials of varying lengths for use on multiple social media platforms, incorporating works of graphic design to create eye catching material to a high quality.
The People’s Orchestra relies on high quality photography to promote their regular events and concerts to as wide an audience as possible, through marketing campaigns and videography production. TPO is looking for volunteer placements, part time across the academic year, to take up the photography role to produce and edit photographic material for marketing and branding use both internally and externally, as well as supporting our graphics department with relevant images as required.
