The Maxine Moody Scholarship for French Horn is awarded to one horn player each year and is open to first and second-year undergraduate BMus students. The prize is designed to support the future career of a talented young musician through performance opportunities, mentoring and financial support. The recipient of the award will also have a performance opportunity to play a concerto with The People’s Orchestra.
The Maxine Moody French horn scholarship is awarded in recognition of commitment to community music making by the late Maxine Moody, trustee of The People’s Orchestra

Mentoring and support from Tim Jackson (Principal Horn at the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra)
Free membership for a seat in The People’s Orchestra
The opportunity to play a concerto/solo piece with The People’s Orchestra in concert
The audition process:
The Maxine Moody application process consists of one round of auditions where you would be expected to play two contrasting pieces culminating in a maximum of 15 minutes. An accompanist can be provided if needed however this would be with limited rehearsal time.
The Maxine Moody award is organised and awarded by members of The People’s Orchestra’s Youth Advisory Board Neavan Lobban (Conductor of The People’s Orchestra), Bradley Wilson (Conductor of The Rusty Players Orchestra) and Amrit Sohal (Board Trustee), with support from Amos Miller (Head of Brass at The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire).
Auditions will take place on the 1st April from 10am at the RBC
