The People’s Orchestra Goes Virtual – International Performances during the Covid-19 Lockdown

The People’s Orchestra proudly announces their international exchange programme and collaborations with Orchestre Philharmonia Mundi de Montréal from Canada, who participated in the orchestra’s latest exchange success, and new friends from Orchestras Central in New Zealand.

This collaboration is designed ahead of the Commonwealth Games to be held in 2022. To introduce this brand new concept in massed orchestral music creation, The People’s Orchestra has commissioned a brand new piece of music from professional composer John Koutselinis, to be performed internationally by orchestra participants.

In the current Covid-19 lockdown, musicians across these ensembles are recording their instrumental parts from the comfort of their own home, in their continual effort to support their orchestras. All these recordings are being collected into a massed recording and professional video, as a pilot for future online concerts and projects throughout the coming months.
